Our Story

RIC Power Corporation designs and manufactures medium voltage switchgear for a wide variety of applications. The global switchgear market is expected to show an impressive amount of growth over the next several years as the market for switchgear continues to evolve globally. This has been led mainly by escalating demand for renewable sources of energy, growth in construction and industrial sectors especially in developing countries, as well as government efforts to upgrade and modernize electricity transmission and distribution systems.

The increasing use of higher voltages for electrical distribution and application in both industrial and commercial applications places additional requirements on the switchgear. RIC Power offers a wide variety of medium metal enclosed, metal clad and arc resistant switchgear that has been carefully designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of all our customers.

Our switchgear can be manufactured up to 3000A utilizing Cutler Hammer (EATON), GE, ABB, Schneider or Tavrida circuit breakers. State of the art microprocessor based protective devices can be incorporated into the design to provide maximum system protection and communication. Switchgear lineups are manufactured and assembled at our local Burnaby plant, using reliable, quality materials.

Our Design Process

Our switchgear is designed to meet the codes and standards set by CSA, IEEE and ANSI guidelines. Service continuity, a high degree of operator safety, ease of installation, reduced construction costs and provision for future extensions on both sides of the unit are design aspects that RIC Power strives to achieve in all our products.

RIC Power works closely with our customers to design a system that fits within their parameters and expectations. This includes design considerations such as space allocation, working clearances, controllability, accessibility, maintainability and personnel/arc flash protection (arc flash boundary).
